Will I like these Quiet Books even if I’m not LDS?
Yes. The stories in the Old and New Testament quiet
books
are taken directly from the King James Bible. Our Protestant and
Catholic friends have oo'ed and aah'ed over them just as much as our
LDS
(Mormon) friends have. And the doctrines taught through them
(faith in God, Christ is the savior of the world, love for others,
etc.)
are universal throughout the Christian world. The Book of Mormon
quiet book also teaches these same fundamental Christian doctrines, but
the stories may not be familiar to you if you have never been exposed
to this additional scriptural record that is a companion to the Bible
and another testament of Jesus Christ. If you would like to know
more about what the Book of Mormon teaches, take a look at www.mormon.org.
Do you offer quantity discounts?
Yes. We’re more than happy to provide discounts if you’d like
to
purchase 10 or more quiet book kits, quiet little books, or blankets
(you may mix and match however you would like - purchase of lacing card
sets does not contribute to the 10 or more requirement, nor does the
quantity discount apply to the lacing card sets). When you place
a quantity order, we will take 20% off of the price of each eligible
item.
We’ve found that making quiet books can
be a wonderful Home and Family Enrichment night project for Relief
Society. Or how about making them to donate to less fortunate
children as a Young Women’s or Young Men’s project? Or, if you’d
simply like to get together with several of your friends to place a quantity order, we’ll
be happy to accommodate you.
Why aren’t the play pieces attached to the Quiet Books?
We’ve found that kids are incredibly creative in their play
with
these books. One favorite game is to play hide-and-seek with the
play pieces (for instance hiding the kids that sit on Jesus’ lap under
the bushel basket). Another fun activity is to stick the Velcro
figures to the back of a church pew as if on a flannel board.
While you’re more than welcome to attach the pieces to your book with
ribbon or cord, we don’t produce them that way so that you have the
option of expanding your child’s play. Whether or not you attach
the pieces to the book, however, remember that very young children
(ages
3 and under) need to be supervised while playing to avoid choking on
the pieces.
Are the Quiet Book kits hard to make?
No, we’ve designed the kits so that if you have very minimal
sewing skills you can make these books in just a few hours. The
hardest thing you’ll have to know is how to do a buttonhole stitch on
your machine. Check out our sewing tips
page for more hints and ideas to make putting together these great
books
fun and easy.
